Report of John Tubice on “Privacy and Piracy with the Media”

The reporter said that in media, it can enter into our private life. For example, in the internet explorer, especially in using my e-mail, the media can easily enter into my private accounts and can get some information about me. We are being invaded by the media in one way or another. What we must do is to be careful in approaching the media and we must protect our own privacy so that we won’t be worried in the things that we are doing in relation with the media.

Report of Janwyn Silao on “Media Influence on Sports”

In our present time, we are being influenced by media in different kinds of events and occasions. One example is on sports whereby we do not need to go anymore on the places where sports are being held. We just simply watch the television and enjoy it. In fact, media has an advantage whenever we watch something. There are many effects such as replays, slow motion effects, etc. That’s why while watching, especially on sports such as basketball, soccer, volleyball, and others, we are being facilitated by these advantages of the media. In addition, media influence on sports can also lead us to automaticity if we will not be careful and critical to it. The media is good but then, if it is use to the extreme, it becomes a wrong habit.

Report of Luis Robrigado on Helping Others Increase their Media Literacy

What I understood in the report was that if we have good knowledge about the media and its effects, we should not keep it, we should share it with others who does not know media sufficiently. What happens in our present world is that some of us are addicted on media. For example, the use of gadgets and equipments coming from media like cellphones, Ipods, etc. Media becomes a drug for us and if this happens, we are affected on the negative effects of the media. We become too much attached with it and we are already being controlled by the media which is not good for us. We must be careful in dealing with media effects and its influences to us.

Report of Jerome Repato on Personal Strategy for Increasing Media Literacy

What I understood during the report was that we should gain control on the media effects that we are constantly encountering. The media can help us in many things such as manual works, tips and guidelines, etc. However, we must also be critical on media because not all information that they are showing are important and necessary. To increase our strategy in looking at media, we must analyze the media messages and be critical about them. In this way, our cognitive and emotional aspects in life will develop.

My own report (Kenneth Pedro) on the Importance of the Real-World Knowledge Concerning on Media

After I read and reported about this, I realized that media cannot exist without the real-world knowledge. The media world we see is somehow premised on the real-world. For us to be guided in approaching the media effects, we must be facilitated by acquiring real-world knowledge. One way to acquire real-world knowledge is for us to socialize with one another. Socialization is important because it will help us to develop our real-world knowledge. Unless we have a good knowledge structure to guide us in our constant encounters with media messages, we will have little context to help us make good decisions about what is useful and really necessary.

Report of Jhonny Pajarillo on “Effects on Institutions”

Media, as many have said, brings negative effects to everybody. These negative effects on media can also enter in the family, politics, religion and eventually, the society. One negative effects of media is that is destroys the social interaction between oneself and others. In the family, the members are negatively affected by the media. A practical example is that when the family eats together, some members do not interact with one another. What they do is that they are busy in dealing with their cellphones, Ipods, MP3s, etc.. Some even watch television while eating and it destroys the bonding of everybody. What we should do is that we must give time for socialization with others and we should not center our focus only on the media because somehow, the media has negative effects on us.

Report of Benjie Marcos on “How does the Effect Process Work on Media”

The effects that we acquire in the media are not always positive. Most of the time negative what we acquire are negative effects. If, for example, somebody watches an action movie especially the kids, they tend to imitate it. The development of the minds of the children is being affected with negative aspects that they see in the television. Hence, media effects, in one way or another, are dangerous to us especially the children.
In dealing with the media effects, we must be responsible in our actions. We must not be controlled by the media. It must be the other way around; we should be the one who control the media so that negative effects of the media will be avoided.

Report of Edison Marbella on “Broadening our Perspective on Media Effects”

Most of the time, we are being informed by the media but we do not know the effects that will happen to us. Media greatly influences man in his daily life. Media can somehow help us but on the other hand, it can also lead us to error. Hence, we must not always stick too much on the media. We should also see the importance of the real world knowledge that we see in our environment every day.

Report of Ernie Lozada on “Audience”

In the report, the reporter told us that all of us are being affected by the media. All of us who tend to use media are all audiences. We are the ones who makes the media works and live. Every time we focus ourselves on the media, we become part of it. We are the one who construct the media. Every day we are bombarded by information coming from media but it does not make us really knowledgeable. Approaching media carelessly will lead us to error and faulty beliefs. We, as an audience must see to it that what we acquire from the media are those things that we really need. The information which we acquire from the media must be first analyzed and be evaluated.
